Advisory: explicit language & disturbing violence (in the video).
My post (in Facebook) in response to this Video.
He's a monster indeed! :/ ... so was her mother when the video was 'taken'! (She now claims to have been brainwashed & abused herself!) :|
Quite recently, I saw a report by BBC, on TV, about how U.S. has the worst statistics for child abuse cases in th industrialized world & incidentally, they mentioned Texas to have the worst record of all.
Now, this video from Texas!!!!
That BBC report shows far more worse incidents than the outrage of this video! Here's our root cause for most "problems" we face in our society today!
Frankly, I have faced such 'disciplining' myself as a kid (this video hence personally disturbs me). 'Spare the rod..' & all that you know! However, even in India, where the society at large believes that adage & encourages parents to 'discipline' their kids, will not tolerate a parent, esp. a 'father', to lay hands on his girl who is in the teens. There's another local saying: Don't beat a boy who's taller than your shoulders.
I'm of the view: spare the rod, spare the child! Having faced the end of a stick/belt/what-not myself (though never a filthy language & demeanor like that), I ask myself why?
I then realize our parents were meted out the same kind of "disciplining" (I truly hate that word)! They're passing on their nurture. It's up to us kids & the abused, like the girl here (who incidentally suffers from cerebral palsy!), to find our inner strength to forgive, & pass on only the love to our kids.
Details have emerged with the girl, seen here & her mom (as seen in the video), being interviewed on the Today's show.

A Child's Dream.
Where's the love? Where's love?
A question that frequently haunted my experience as a child. A child instinctively, I believe, understands that love and happiness go together. Consequently, an unhappy child is an unloved one. If you cannot feel love for yourself , do not marry another human! If you cannot love another human, do not 'beget' a child. If you cannot love and still have done the above two, learn. Learn to love. It isn't quantum physics. And the best place to do that is at your child's hands. Sit with it and learn the joy of pure love.
This way a child learns that the parents are humans too who are still learning (which is a good thing! A parent is not someone who 'must know-all'!), and connects it emotionally & intellectually with it's parent(s). Also, never insult a child's intellect! It's an important thing to be cherished and loved like a human, by another human, while one takes this sojourn (life). If one cannot receive it from a parent, who, 'nature' has geared you to unconditionally trust and love, where else could one find it? Is then life worth living? Somehow we kids trudge on, existing in various states, from a zombie to a trouble-maker, a nerd to a bully. None find their center. If they do, the society is full of un-centered, grown kids (posing as adults), to do enough to push them off the center.
That's why the world is why the way, and how, it is today! We only have to look within us and find the capacity to love again. To change us from within, with love. Love yourself as you are! Love yourself as you will become! Love the you that you were! Love living, and the joy of a child!
I remember once having a discussion about children with my friends (over, where else(!), Facebook). A parent, I suppose, responding to a statement about learning to let the kids be, and not 'enforce' their dominion and discipline, she questioned, "Where must I stop?" I remember distinctly telling her to ask rather, where must she start?
"No love without, love within".
